Coronavirus outbreak: B.C. says slight drop in COVID-19 hospitalizations is encouraging | FULL
British Columbia’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix provided an update on the COVID-19 response in the province on Monday afternoon.
B.C. reported one new death from the novel coronavirus, but there continues to be encouraging signs at the province’s hospitals, with the number of people hospitalized from the virus dropping by nine to 140 since an update on Saturday. Henry said that the percentage of new cases in the province “has been slowing,” which is “testament to the effort that everybody in B.C. has been making” over the past few weeks.
Despite this, Henry stated that the province must continue to focus on breaking the “chains of transmission” by practicing physical distancing and self isolation.
As of Monday, B.C. confirmed an additional 63 cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 1,266.
