Live outside US Capitol building as House Democrats introduce article on Trump's impeachment
Ruptly is live outside the United States' Capitol on Monday, January 11, as a bill to impeach US President Donald Trump is introduced in the wake of last week's storming of the building by his supporters. The bill has been signed on to by over 180 House of Representatives Democrats.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer, among other lawmakers, accuse Trump of inciting the rioters who stormed the Capitol building on Wednesday, January 6, disrupting a joint session of Congress to certify the presidential election results. The incident left five people dead and several injured.
The White House dismissed the bill as a politically motivated move.
