The Real Reason You Don't Hear From Tatyana Ali Anymore
Which name rings a bell first: Tatyana Ali, or Ashley Banks? Even decades after the end of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, our money's still on the latter. However, Will Smith's on-screen little cousin hasn't been loafing around. Even though Tatyana Ali has been keeping busy, here's the real reason why you don't hear much from her anymore.
Even though Ali has been out of the spotlight in recent years, she's still been developing projects behind the scenes. One of them was for a talk show that never came to fruition, but she claimed that it bore a striking resemblance to the another show called The Real. In July 2016, Deadline reported that Ali sued Warner Bros and Telepictures regarding an idea that she allegedly pitched to executives in 2012. The Real started airing about six months after this pitch happened.
However, the lawsuit was tossed out in February 2017. The court ruled that the trade secret laws upon which Ali based part of her claim don't protect ideas. Nothing's been publicly reported about whether or not she's pursued the matter since then. It's probably fair to guess that her legal issues could be one of the reasons we haven't heard from her as much in recent years.
