WATCH: What 2020 Democrats would do first as president | 2019 Democratic Debates

Published on 08 Jul 2019 / In News & Politics

Speaking during the first 2020 Democratic presidential debate, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York said Democrats need to “stop playing defense and start playing offense,” when it comes to fighting for abortion rights. Gillibrand, who has made a name for herself as a leader on women’s issues, said it was “mind-boggling” that Democrats were debating whether women should have access to reproductive rights in 2019. She promised as president she would guarantee women’s reproductive rights “no matter what.”
